Project name: Developing Regional Ecotourism Development Plan and Ecotourism Pilot Models in Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue Provinces under the Green Truong Son Project funded by USAID

1.        Time : May 2018 – February 2019

2.        Location : Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue, Vietnam

3.        Objectives : to develop strategies and plans to develop regional eco-tourism and pilot eco-tourism models in the Central Truong Son area, focusing on conservation areas, buffer zones of protected areas and areas biodiversity corridor.

4.        Main activities :

(i) Assessment of the current status of ecotourism in the region;

(ii) Assess the current status of ecotourism in the project areas including identifying problems, potential markets, partners and cost benefits of pilot implementation;

(iii) Draft Ecotourism Development Strategy based on collected information to identify priority partner groups and landscape factors

(iv) Organizing a workshop with relevant partners to collect comments on the Ecotourism Development Strategy of the region.

(v) Finalize the Regional Ecotourism Development Strategy including investment opportunities and implementation plan of the Strategy;

(vi) Develop a monitoring and management toolkit including indicators and mechanisms to monitor progress in the implementation of the Regional Ecotourism Development Plan;

(vii) Organizing consultation workshops to finalize the Strategy and Plan;

(viii) Design and build two pilot ecotourism models in Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue.
